The International School Yangon was founded in 1952. In 1988, the school moved to its current location, a four acre campus on the outskirts of the city. The campus includes seven buildings which house forty-three classrooms, a library of over 27,000 volumes, three science labs, two music rooms, two art rooms, five computer labs (120 workstations), high speed fibre optic Internet access, a lunchroom, and a multipurpose room. There are two playground areas, two covered courts and one field. A new elementary building was constructed and opened to students in 2006.
